Kenneth Board is emeritus professor at Swansea University in the department of electrical and electronic engineering.

He graduated with a BSc in electrical and electronic engineering at Swansea in 1964, followed by a PhD at Bangor University in 1969.

He held a research post with Philips Research labs in Redhill before taking an academic position at Swansea University as a lecturer.

His area of research was semiconductor devices and their technologies and he spent three years as visiting research associate  at Cornell University.

He was awarded a personal chair in 1986 and is a fellow of both the Royal Academy of Engineering and the Learned society of Wales.

He held the WDA sponsored Chair of Entrepreneurship at Swansea University for three years in the 1980’s.

He developed a strong interest in how research outcomes should be exploited and held the WDA chair of entrepreneurship at Swansea for three years. He is the founder or co-founder of several companies including Rockfield Software, covered in the stories found herein.
